Penny wise, pound foolish
“Many companies closely monitor minor expenses, but bargain away their advantages by negotiating themselves. They do not have a total overview and are therefore not in a position to take the right decisions. Penny wise, pound foolish. The Relocation Service of Solidbasics International can save you up to 30 percent in relocation costs."
Letter from the Director,
My name is Huub Joan Franssen. I started Solidbasics International based on my personal experience of living in Hong Kong.
I experienced the problems that most Expatriates and Organization are going trough myself. My personal experience let me to the belief that relocation and the management of Expatriates can be done a lot better. This led me to start Solidbasics International. We offer a better starting point for the foreign experience, both for the employee that goes outbound as for the organisation that sends him.
No less than 70 percent of all relocations do not generate the desired result, either because the employee returns prematurely, does not perform effectively in the foreign country or leaves employment shortly after having been relocated. This is a negative experience for your employee and harmful to your organisation. You do not recoup your investment in the employee. You are faced with additional costs for a successor. Meanwhile your business plans are delayed. Or worse still: your clients abandon you, your network is damaged and the competition capitalises on your misery.
The frequent failure of relocations can be attributed to various causes. Your employee is placed within an unfamiliar environment, a different culture, and needs time to adjust. During this period of settling in which, on average, takes approximately three months, there are lots of things that can go wrong. Your employee must get used to the country, the language and different customs and practices. Meanwhile there is a lot to arrange: accommodation, financial affairs, transport and healthcare…whereas your organisation has the necessary expectation and targets of the employee. This combination can lead to stress and therefore the risk of dropping out is high.
This can be done better. The services that we provide are designed to cut down on the waste, increasing the return on investment, but above all on delivering satisfaction for the Expatriate and his Organisation.
